Logan is a 2017 American superhero filmfeaturing the Marvel Comics characterWolverine, produced by Marvel Entertainment,TSG Entertainment, and The Donners’ Company, and distributed by 20th Century Fox.[3][4] It is intended to be the tenth installment in the X-Men film series, as well as the third and final Wolverine solo film following X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) andThe Wolverine (2013).[5][6] The film takes inspiration from “Old Man Logan” by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven, which follows a past-his-prime Logan undertaking a final adventure in the post-apocalyptic future.[7][8][9]

The film is directed by James Mangold, who co-wrote the screenplay with Michael Green and Scott Frank, from a story by David James Kelly and Mangold.[10] Hugh Jackman stars asLogan in what is intended to be his final portrayal of the character after having played the role for 17 years, with Patrick Stewart co-starring as Charles Xavier.[11] Richard E. Grant,Boyd HolbrookStephen MerchantDafne KeenEriq La SalleElise Neal and Elizabeth Rodriguez are all featured in supporting roles.[12][13] Principal photography began inLouisiana on May 2, 2016 and ended on August 19th, 2016 in New Mexico.[14][15][16]The locations used for Logan were mainly Louisiana, New Mexico, andMississippi.[17][18][19]


Logan premiered at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival on February 17, 2017, and was theatrically released in the United States on March 3, 2017, in standard and IMAX formats.[20] It received praise from critics and audiences, with many calling it one of the best superhero films of all time,[21] and has grossed $597 million worldwide against its $97 million budget, making it the second highest-grossing film of 2017.[2]
